Nepalgunj. The Nepal-India border at Banke and Bardiya will be closed from tonight for the local level election to be held on April 12.

Chief District Officer of Banke, Surya Bahadur Khatri, informed that the border checkpoints of Banke and Bardiya connected to India would be closed for 72 hours.
Stating that the local level election to be held this Friday will be clean, fair, peaceful and fearless, Khatri said that the Nepal-India border will be closed from 12 noon tonight to 12 noon on April 12.
Earlier, it was decided to close the border for 72 hours before the election as the open border could increase security challenges during the election.
The bilateral meeting decided to ban the sale and consumption of alcohol in the border areas of the two countries 48 hours before the election.
The area bordering India with Banke district is 65 kilometers and Bardiya is 82 kilometers.
