Kathmandu. A total of 11,597 candidates have filed nominations across the country on the first day of registration of nomination papers for the local level election to be held on April 12.
According to Election Commission spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel, 11,597 candidates had filed nominations at 753 local levels across the country on Sunday. Accordingly, there are 1,035 candidates for the post of chairperson or chief.
Similarly, 599 candidates have registered for the post of vice-chairman or deputy chief on the first day, while 3,171 candidates have registered for the post of ward chairman, said Poudel.
Similarly, on the first day of nomination registration of candidates for the open member post, 3713 candidates have filed their candidacies while 1,770 candidates have filed nominations for the female member post. Similarly, 1,369 candidates have registered for the post of Dalit women member, according to the commission.
The commission has given time for registration of candidates for the local level election from 10 am to 5 pm today. On Sunday, there were more independent candidates than any other party candidate.
